The IPBN hosted the first Sustainability Forum on 18th March 2019 as part of the Global St Patrick’s Day celebrations. The theme of the event was “Starting a Conversation on joint opportunities”, focusing in this instance on Innovations in Energy and SMART Cities. The event was opened by Irish Minister for State for Food, Forestry and Horticulture, Mr Andrew Doyle T.D.
We had a variety of incredibly interesting presentations from a diverse range of speakers including Tomás Moreno, Head of Transformation at EDP Inovacão, Professor Brian Norton of TU Dublin, Sérgio Guerreiro, Director of Knowledge Management and Innovation at Turismo de Portugal and Graham Currier of Dense Air, who are rolling out 5G networks in both Ireland and Portugal and who sponsored the event.
There were many other presenters who contributed to this excellent informative event including three representatives of Enterprise Ireland's client companies:
Representatives of the State Agencies AICEP, Enterprise Ireland, Bord Bia, Tourism Ireland were all present and the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland who support the aims and work of IPBN were represented by Honorary Patron, H.E. Ambassador Orla Tunney.
The IPBN is very grateful to all of the keynote speakers, who gave their time and great effort in presenting their knowledge and their view of the opportunities ahead for business and to all the attendees for their attention throughout the morning.
Early feedback indicates that conversations have well and truly started and we look forward to exciting times ahead as the IPBN works to continue facilitating collaboration and co-operation in business between Irish and Portuguese companies.
Finally, we wish to acknowledge the generous support of Dense Air Portugal, Enterprise Ireland, the CCIP who hosted us and the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, which made the event possible.
