We were delighted to invite our members for a presentation by Enterprise Ireland's CEO Leo Clancy on the morning of November 29 at the Irish Embassy in Lisbon, on the theme of “Looking Ahead to 2023: Global & Eurozone Export Prospects”. This was followed by a Q&A session and time for networking.
Thank you to H.R. Ralph Victory, Ambassador of Ireland to Portugal and Enterprise Ireland Spain to have made this event possible and to have given our members the chance to learn more about Enterprise Ireland in general and its ambition and objectives for the year ahead worldwide, but also and more particularly in Portugal.
Enterprise Ireland’s priorities in the next 12 months, according to Leo during his presentation, are to manage costs, sustain and grow employment, promote sustainability, digitalisation and competitiveness, and continue to build export markets.
These goals are directly related to negative factors such as global market uncertainty, the pound’s declining value, the energy crisis, inflation, and more as well as more positive factors such as substantial employment growth in 2021— the highest increase in net jobs created by Enterprise Ireland client companies to date.
As EI relates to Portugal, there was €99M worth of exports last year from Ireland to Portugal, while the company finalized a partnership with the Altice Innovation Hub. The Altice event in Lisbon is what brought Leo and his team to Lisbon, so we were grateful to have hosted them upon their arrival.
