The IPBN Algarve committee did partner with the University of Algarve, Algarve STP and NEST Tourism Innovation Center Portugal to host an event entitled, "Scaling-up for Tourism: Opportunities for Innovation in Tourism and the Challenges to Adapt to Transformation," which took place in the Sala Atos at the Faculty of Economics at the UAlg Gambelas Campus in Faro, Algarve on Thursday February 24 from 10:15 am to 12:00 pm.

We were delighted to count on the presence of Efigénio Rebelo, Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Algarve, and to welcome the President of the Board of the Algarve STP Francisco Serra to introduce the Digital Innovation Hub and Roberto Antunes, Executive Director at NEST to lead attendees through the role of innovation in scaling up Tourism for the new reality in which we are living.

To further illustrate the future of the tourism sector, the IPBN, along with Hugo Barros of the Algarve STP invited several Algarve-based tourism startups to present their businesses as a case study for what may be next on the horizon for the sector as a whole.

The event was open to members and non-members.
