Daniel Traça, former Dean of Nova SBE in Carcavelos, a loyal partner of the IPBN and the Embassy of Ireland in Lisbon posted, “Over the past 40 years, Portugal has made remarkable progress in the education of its youth, approaching the European leaders in the percentage of young adults with higher education. However, the economy has struggled to keep pace: productivity lags behind European standards, and wages remain low, prompting many young graduates to seek career opportunities abroad. Why is Portugal unable to fully leverage the talent it cultivates? Why do these paradoxes persist in the government sector and in companies? I decided to investigate and reflect on this theme. The result is my book, Ambição, which is now available in Portuguese at bookstores and on leyaonline.com”.
And we can say the IPBN was instrumental in Daniel gaining access to the Ireland Economic miracle that he researched in preparation for his book. You will also want to re-read the conversation we had with Daniel in October 2020 with then Chair of the IPBN Aoife Healy. And we are working on organizing a new conversation with him about his book in 2025, so stay tuned!
