IPBN member Joao Martins from Abacus Wealth Management published an article on Sul Informação! In this article (in Portuguese), Joao analyses the Internal Rate of Profitability (IRR) that the Portuguese Old Age Pension offers to its "investors." Since this is a great source of income for the Portuguese in retirement, and that contributions to the SS represent a significant share of the monthly salary, he wonders if it is in the general interest to know whether or not it is a good investment. And Joao's final answer: it's not.
