Robert Recupero, the Geneva-based former JP Morgan managing director and global head of tech for asset management met his business partner Pedro Cunha who was working as the executive director of the firm in New York City. They bonded over their shared love of technology, data security, and data masking, and, even though Robert shifted lanes to become a senior consultant in Geneva, they never stopped working together.
The pair founded Moomenti based on Robert's own experience as a single father who realized how difficult it could be to travel with his son and find entertainment for short stays on business trips. And they used the JP Morgan framework to build the client journey, the prototype, testing and interviewing, and finally, the user experience framework to get started on the right foot.
He told the IPBN, "I wondered if there was a platform to find all the luxury experiences around me easily. When there wasn't such a thing, I brought the concept to Pedro and we began developing the app to do just that. Confined to a tourist role, the app would say, 'Hey, you're close to a Refinery event 250 meters away. Would you like to book it?' The best part is, this app will allow you to book facilities without actually being an overnight guest."
Essentially, users can find luxury experiences through a simple search and receive push notifications based on geo-location to find things they might otherwise not be aware of. It's just that simple.
Choose from pools, beaches, spas, fitness and kids clubs, lounge and bar events, excursions, tours, and food and beverage experiences from the apps partnering hotels and it's done. Robert said, "It's easy for hotels to customize their options and monetize lost capacity while customers gain immediate access to luxury offerings."
Pedro Cunha is a friend of IPBN member company MobiWeb, which was both a motivator for Moomenti to join the IPBN network and an obvious choice to help the app scale with round-the-clock support. Robert said, "We have full confidence in their work— they have amazing skills! At this stage, we are not about bells and whistles. We are about scaling and enhancing supply, so we are lucky to have so much fantastic support.
For their efforts thus far, Moomenti won the Geneva State Incubator for Innovation and has plans to deploy Proctor & Gamble market resources and analysis in the future. In the meantime, the team is looking for hotels and private clubs, distributors, and sales representatives in Portugal. Currently, Moomenti is undergoing a soft launch while they are gathering experiences and signing new hotels and, according to Robert, it's going faster than anticipated. The full launch is set for 2024.
