Local businesses in the Algarve such as restaurants, shops, bars, activity providers, water sports and boat companies, have all seen their business decimated by the measures in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus. While lockdown measures have eased in Portugal, the Algarve, as a region hugely dependent on tourism, will continue to suffer greatly while travel is not normalized. 

Supporting local businesses, free of charge

With this in mind, the “Buy now, Enjoy Later” initiative has been launched by IPBN member My Guide Algarve, who via their global website platform will be encouraging their users, both locally and globally, to purchase a voucher for the services of a business that they wish to support. The aim is to support local businesses by generating some revenue for them now, while allowing locals and travellers who visit the Algarve time after time, to extend a helping hand to their restaurant or bar of choice, their favourite boat tour or activity.

“Our Buy Now, Enjoy Later vouchers allow users that visit www.myguidealgarve.com to buy vouchers for local businesses.  Valid for up to 18 months from date of purchase, they can use their vouchers as payment or part payment of their bill.” explains Fiona Butler, Managing Director of My Guide Algarve.

She goes on to add “Payments will be made directly to the businesses with no commission or fee charged by My Guide Algarve and there are no costs to join the platform which can be done in a few easy steps.
