Exploring the high-end fashion market and seeing a gap which we felt our designs could fill. We mostly use vibrant saturated colours combined with natural textures which bring out the best in high quality silk scarves.
The Kate Martins design is created by Martin O'Grady through his vast experience as a landscape photographer and digital designer. Katheryne (Kate) O'Hare (who studied at the National College of Art and Design) contributes fashion advice and suggestions until the design is finalised and acceptable to both of us. We are also members of the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland.
All of our designs are created in County Kerry in the south-west of Ireland with several of them emanating from the beautiful scenery surrounding us. Because there are no facilities in Ireland for digitally printing on silk we presently use a company in Portugal for this. Having tested several silk printers in the UK and Italy we decided that at the moment our printer in Portugal offers the best quality and colour rendition.
We are currently stocked exclusively at Marion Cuddy's Irish Designer Emporium in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre in Dublin. We aim to supply a few select boutiques throughout Ireland initially along with our online store. All scarves are printed in very limited editions.
