My primary business focus is a Non-Executive Director of companies involved in international business and investment funds.
As a result of my long career in Ernst & Young as Chairman of the Partnership and Senior Tax Partner,I have a wealth of experience advising high growth companies on such matters as tax structuring and financing of their operations, including complex mergers and acquisitions.
As an advisor to a broad range of domestic and international corporations, government and professional bodies, I have developed an excellent network of contacts in legal firms, banks, government departments and agencies. I have been involved in many Government and Professional Bodies committees such as:
-Irish Government Committee in respect of the establishment of the International Financial Services Centre.
-Member of the IBEC Taxation and Economic Policy Committee
-Council member of the Institute of Taxation
I have also lectured in international tax planning in the U.S.A, Australia and Europe and published many articles on the subject.
From my more recent work as an independent non-executive director, I have advised companies in industries such as financial services, pharmaceuticals, fund management and intellectual property.I have specialist experience advising high growth technology companies listing on foreign stock markets.
I generally spend approximately 6 months of the year in the Algarve.
